Like many of us, Dan as a child was interested in medieval knights, castles, battles and exciting tales from another far off time. Most of this information exposure came from (and still does even more so now) TV, film, toys and books which can regrettably for the most part fall well short of any great historical accuracy or context.

In later years when this interest became a more serious hobby for Dan, it quickly became obvious just how misunderstood the arms, armour and probable mind set of the medieval era is portrayed in popular modern thinking. Fortunately there are many highly respected individuals around the world who are constantly in pursuit of verifiable evidence and as much fact based conclusions as can be obtained.

Exploring real historical evidence rather than trusting to fictional or dramatic interpretations actually reveals far more compelling and interesting details than could just be made up. Often there are large gaps of evidence in the historical records so great care must be taken if trying to make a conclusion. No-one gets it right all the time, and Dan has found his thinking on this subject in need of correction on a number of occasions.

Anyway, Dan is just a very amateur history hobbyist with plenty still to learn, but can provide you with a good starting point for many lines of enquiry and interesting details on the arms and armour subject with a pretty big variety of articles in his replica collection. Dan is continuously striving to improve the detail, accuracy and knowledge of the collection in order to give you and your audience as fascinating and thought provoking experience as possible.

Dan certainly does not claim to be any sort of expert and does not have a definitive final answer to every question on the subject, but part of the experience is to spark the individual to go away and make some of their own fact based discoveries over time. Remember, someone who declares themselves an expert with all the answers must be treated with due caution! An individual who has the respect of their respected peers in the subject is a more sure measure of confidence. History is certainly one of those matters which is regularly subjected to the tides of peoples opinion, both biased and impartial.

However, enjoy the modest wealth of medieval arms & armour history in the collection, presented with a relaxed, open minded but non-fiction style by Dan!
